Pianist Young-sun Lee graduated from Sookmyung Women’s University’s piano department with top honors and completed her master’s degree in piano at the same university’s graduate school with honors.
She has been recognized internationally for her outstanding technique and musical passion, having distinguished herself in numerous domestic and international competitions. In particular, she received the grand prize at the Montecito International Piano Competition (USA), and has proven her skills by winning first place in numerous major competitions, including the IAPMT Grand Concours (USA), KCO National Music Competition, Seoul Orchestra Competition, Hanum Philharmonic Orchestra Competition, and Baekseok University Music Competition. In addition, she has laid the foundation for becoming a world-class performer by winning prizes in international competitions, including the Orbetello International Piano Competition (Italy), Amigdala International Music Competition (Italy), YMIC International Music Competition (USA), and Creativo Arte International Competition.
Based on these awards, she has been actively performing both domestically and internationally. She has demonstrated her outstanding skills on international stages by performing with the Spain Liria Chamber Orchestra, Poland Torun Symphony Orchestra, Romania Pitesti Philharmonic Orchestra, and Russia National Pacific Symphony Orchestra, and has established herself as a world-renowned performer through joint recitals at the Lepthien Hall in Freiburg, Germany, and performances at the John F. Kennedy Center in the United States. She has also performed impressively in major European cities such as Poland, the Czech Republic, Vienna, and Romania, and has deeply impressed local audiences by performing at historic venues such as the LMA Orchestersaal in Bolfenbüttel, Germany, the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum ALTE BÖRSE and SchumannHaus in Leipzig, and the Carl Maria von Weber Museum in Dresden. Through these wide-ranging activities across the United States and Europe, her musical world has expanded even deeper and wider.
While attending Sookmyung Women’s University, she won an audition and performed in a regular concert. She was selected as the best performer for four consecutive years and performed in the best performer concert. She was also selected as a scholarship student by the Samick Cultural Foundation and received a scholarship and performed a talent sharing artist concert. She gained attention from the music industry by proving her potential as a new pianist at the Chosun Ilbo New Artist Concert and the Korean Piano Society New Artist Concert held at the Recital Hall of the Seoul Arts Center.
Currently, she is a Ph.D. student at Sookmyung Women’s University, works as an educational assistant in the piano department, and is studying under Professor Hye-soo Jeon. She is actively performing on stages both domestically and internationally, and is creating a deeper musical world through constant effort and passion.
