Pianist Hyun-jin Jang, who captivates audiences with her deep musical understanding and rich musicality, graduated with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the College of Music at Sookmyung Women’s University. She then went to the United States, where she completed a Master’s degree in Piano Pedagogy and a Performance degree at Western Illinois University on full scholarship and assistantship.
Her musical journey began early, starting with an award at The 2nd Seoul International Youth Music Competition, followed by awards and performances at the ICA 1st Annual International Piano Competition, a piano duo recital with Hyun-jin Jang & Ye-won Jeong and a piano duo performance with Soo-jeong Shin in Vietnam, and a piano duo performance at the Milan Conservatory in Italy. She has also performed at various events, including “Opera Stories Told by Four Pianists,” the KB-sponsored invitation recital, “Concerto / Aria / Composition Winner Concert” with the WIU Symphony Orchestra, the “Student Showcase Convocation Recital” at WIU, and “Dance Music Stories Told by Four Pianists.” Additionally, she has participated in numerous performances such as the Piano Cantabile concert with Professor Hye-soo Jeon of Sookmyung Women’s University, the full opera performance of Bernstein’s “Trouble in Tahiti”, collaborations with the Perugia Brunensis Virtuosi Orchestra, the Academy Percussion Ensemble, the Czech Janáček Concert Orchestra, the Oltenia Craiova Philharmonic Orchestra of Romania, and the Russian National Pacific Symphony Orchestra.
She has accumulated extensive musical experience through master classes with Zenon Fishbein, Alain Jacquon, Laurent Cabasso, Guido Heinke, Elizabeth Moak, and William Kinderman. She has studied under renowned teachers including Hye-kyung Lee, Yun-ha Hwang, Sung-mi Kim, Seong-hee Jeong, Hye-soo Jeon, and Tammie Walker.
Hyunjin Jang has served as a visiting professor at Sookmyung Women’s University and a lecturer at Baekseok University. Currently, she is completing a doctoral program in Cultural and Arts Education at Sookmyung Women’s University and continues to study in order to nurture future musicians.
