Ariel Liu is an aspiring Taiwanese solo pianist, chamber musician, and music educator based in the Los Angeles area. Notably, she claimed first prize at the 2021 US Golden State International Piano Competition, first prize at the 2020 Chopin Northwest Piano Competition, and recently appeared as a soloist with the Azusa Pacific University Symphony Orchestra. Her captivating performances have graced concert halls and festivals across Asia, Europe, and the United States, enriching her profound musical experiences. As an avid chamber musician, Liu has collaborated with exceptional instrumentalists and vocalists in chamber concerts and recitals.
In addition to performing, Liu values a strong pedagogical focus and community engagement. Liu serves as the Event Coordinator/Director of Outreach for the USC chapter of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and has recently presented at the 2024 MTNA Collegiate Chapter in Michigan. As an educator, Liu serves as a piano teaching assistant at the University of Southern California and was also a former piano instructor at the Westside Music Conservatory and Fried Music. In summer 2024, she had the honor to serve as a teacher assistant at the Montecito Music Festival.
While being a founding member of the California Youth Music Competition in the greater Los Angeles area, Ariel Liu is currently pursuing a Doctorate degree at the University of Southern California under the tutelage of Antoinette Perry. Her previous teachers include Dr. Andrew Park and the late Dr. Eugene Alcalay.
