Dr. JinHee Kate Kim is a highly acclaimed educator, chamber musician, and multi-media violinist, recognized for her “sensitive voicing” by the German Newspaper Leipziger Volkszeitung. Her dynamic performance career has taken her to international stages in the U.S., Canada, Korea, Germany, and Italy, with performances in prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall in New York City and Symphony Hall in Boston.

Dr. Kim is a recipient of multiple awards, including the First and Silver medal prizes at the International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition in New York, and the Most Distinguished Musicians Award and Brahms Award at the IBLA International Competition in Italy. She also received the respected Tourjée Alumni Award from the New England Conservatory.

Currently teaching violin at California Baptist University, Dr. Kim has held prior faculty positions at Mount St. Joseph University and Eastern Nazarene College. Additionally, she served as a teaching assistant at both Boston University and the New England Conservatory of Music. As an educator, she teaches violin, chamber music, and pedagogy, and regularly serves as an adjudicator and clinician for youth music organizations, including JCM (Junior Chamber Music) and SYMF (Southwestern California Youth Music Festival).

Her commitment to her students is notable; her pupils have served as concertmasters in major youth orchestras and earned laureate titles in international competitions, culminating in performances at Carnegie Hall.

Inspired by a hand injury in 1992, Dr. Kim pioneered the use of multi-media in performance, creating El Bara Art (Hebrew for “God creates”). These unique works, such as “The Creation of the World”, combine complex violin performance with sound effects, acting, and collage art. She continues to perform this groundbreaking work widely.

Dr. Kim holds multiple degrees from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Boston University, having studied with renowned artists including Michèle Auclair, James Buswell, and Prof. Roman Totenberg.
