Miji Kim is an accomplished pianist, chamber musician, and educator renowned for her dedication to music and teaching. Since 2003, she has been a valued member of the piano faculty at the Colburn Community School of Performing Arts, where she imparts her expertise through applied piano classes and dynamic summer intensive piano programs.

As the founder and pianist of both the Sharon Trio and Iris Chamber group, Kim showcases her musical prowess regularly. Her talents have been recognized with numerous awards, scholarships, and prestigious accolades, including triumph at the Edith Knox Concerto Competition in 2000. Kim’s academic journey includes graduating magna cum laude with a Master and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from California State University, Northridge, studying under the esteemed Francoise Regnat. Her exceptional abilities have earned her a place in esteemed listings such as the National Dean’s List and the Jakob & Bronislaw Gimpel Memorial Endowments.

Beyond her performance career, Kim is highly regarded as a workshop leader and adjudicator for various music competitions and festivals. Actively engaged in the music community, she is a member of prominent associations like the Music Teacher’s Association of California, Music Teacher’s National Association, CAPMT, IAPMT, and Southwestern Youth Music Festival. She has served as a faculty member at Montecito International Music festival.

Kim’s impact extends to her students, who have consistently achieved remarkable success under her mentorship. They have garnered top prizes at esteemed competitions and festivals, including the Music Teacher’s Association of California, Southwestern Youth Music Festival, Golden Classical Music Awards, IAPMT, and Southern California Bach Festival. Many of her students have furthered their musical journeys by gaining admission to prestigious universities such as UCLA, USC, Yale, Columbia, and Harvard, a testament to Kim’s exceptional teaching and guidance.
